Doug moved on to serve for nearly 10 more years as Jackson County’s civil attorney and eventually became County Counsel working with complex civil matters to ensure the county’s compliance with broad areas of government law, interpreting  land use regulation, protecting citizens' civil rights, and minimizing government liability to save taxpayers’ dollars.

Since his days of public service, Doug has set out in a private solo practice providing general law services with emphasis in government law including Land Use, Contracts, Real Estate and Simple Wills and Trusts.

McGeary recently ran a strong and respectable campaign for Circuit Court Judge.  Although near success but not to win, Doug's reputation as a professional and worthy advocate among his peers was his most rewarding compliment.  Attorneys in the community overwhelmingly voted for McGeary as their choice for judge in two separate Oregon State Bar preference polls.

McGeary is well respected, balanced and understands the law.

Community involvement is what makes Southern Oregon so strong. McGeary’s family has longtime roots here and he is raising his family in the same place he was born and raised.

Doug has insight into what is expected and understood by people living, working, and growing up here. He has immense pride and a strong commitment to making this community the best and most livable it can be.
